Compression

How it works

  1. Drop your PDF here, or click to choose it.
  2. Fit under a file size is already selected, with the limit set to 150 KB. Change it if your form asks for something different.
  3. Click Compress PDF. The tool first tries to shrink the file without changing it; if that is not enough, it saves the pages as images at the best quality that fits.
  4. Download your PDF and open it once to check the text is clear before you upload it.

Frequently asked questions

Is 150 KB enough for a two-page document?

Yes, for most phone scans: in our tests each page kept around 75 DPI, where normal-size text is clear. Pages from a flatbed scanner look even better.

I have photos of the pages, not a PDF. What do I do?

Turn the photos into one PDF with JPG to PDF first, then compress that PDF here to 150 KB.

Will my PDF look the same?

If lossless optimisation is enough, it is identical. Otherwise the pages are saved as images at the highest resolution that fits: tables and stamps stay clear, while very fine print may soften.

Is my PDF uploaded when I compress it to 150 KB?

No. Your PDF is compressed inside your browser and never sent anywhere, which matters for documents such as certificates and ID proofs.

What fits in a 150 KB PDF

150 KB sits between the common 100 KB and 200 KB limits and is used by some portals for certificates and ID proofs. It gives a two-page scan enough room for clear, readable text.

As a rough guide from our tests with phone photos of documents, about 2 pages fit in 150 KB with normal text still readable. Clean scanner output fits more, and PDFs made from Word or Google Docs are often small enough already.
