What is PDF metadata?
Metadata is information stored inside the file about the document: its title, author, subject, keywords, the application that created it, and when it was created and modified. It does not appear on the pages themselves.
Why should I check metadata before sharing?
Metadata can reveal the author's name, company, software and editing dates. Checking or removing it prevents leaking details you did not intend to share, for example in anonymous submissions.
Does removing metadata change the document content?
No. Only the document properties are cleared; every page looks exactly the same.
Why does the title in my PDF viewer not change?
Some viewers show the file name instead of the Title property. Check the document properties (often Ctrl + D) to see the updated metadata.
