Privacy Policy

Information about privacy and the use of Our Online Tools.

Last updated: October 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Our Online Tools ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you visit and use ouronlinetools.com and its online tools.

The Short Version

  • You don't need an account, and we never ask for your name or email to use a tool.
  • Most tools run entirely in your browser: the text and files you put into them are not uploaded to us.
  • We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use the site. On tool pages it is told to mask everything you type or open.
  • We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and tools are used. It never receives what you type, paste or open in a tool.
  • We count tool usage anonymously, with no cookies or IP addresses attached.
  • The free website check button in the corner of each page is run by Mend My Sites. Only if you use it do the website, name and email you enter go to them and to us.
  • We keep our own simple visitor statistics (pages viewed, time on page, approximate location, browser and device). They use no cookies, and we don't store your IP address.

Information We Collect

We aim to keep the information collected through our website to a minimum.

Like almost every website, our hosting server keeps standard access logs: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting and are kept for a limited time.

Our analytics services (see "Analytics" below) also collect technical information such as your browser, device type, approximate location (country or region), pages visited and how you interact with them.

Information You Provide

If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, name and the contents of your message. We use it only to reply to you and deal with your request.

Online Tools

Most of our tools process information directly in your web browser. Where a tool works this way (its page says "Your files stay on your device"), the text, numbers and files you enter are not sent to our servers.

Analytics and other third-party services described below may still receive technical information about your visit, but not the contents you enter into a tool.

Analytics: Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the website, for example which tools are popular, where people click and scroll, and where pages are confusing or broken. Clarity produces heatmaps and recordings of sessions that let us see how pages are used.

  • Clarity starts only after you first interact with a page (for example by scrolling or tapping).
  • On tool pages and in search boxes we instruct Clarity to mask content, so what you type, paste or open in a tool is not recorded.
  • Clarity collects technical data such as your browser, device, approximate location, pages viewed, clicks, scrolling and session length.
  • Clarity sets cookies to recognise returning visitors and to link pages viewed in one visit (see "Cookies" below).

Microsoft processes this data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. For more about Clarity, see Clarity's cookie list.

Analytics: Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and tools people find useful, where they come from (for example a search engine) and which device and browser they use.

  • Google Analytics starts only after you first interact with a page (for example by scrolling or tapping).
  • It receives the address and title of each page you view (including the words you search for with our site's search box), the website that linked you here, your browser, device, screen size, language and approximate location, and events such as scrolling, clicking a link to another website, using a tool or copying or downloading a result (only the tool's name, never its contents).
  • What you type, paste or open in a tool is never sent to it.
  • Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses; Google uses them only briefly to work out an approximate location.
  • It sets cookies on our domain to recognise returning visitors (see "Cookies" below).
  • You can opt out on any website with Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Google processes this data as described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Free Website Check

The "Free website check" button in the bottom corner of each page, and the form it opens, are provided by Mend My Sites (mendmysites.com), a website audit service.

  • A few seconds after a page loads, or as soon as you scroll or tap, your browser loads the button from mendmysites.com, which, like any website, sees your IP address and browser.
  • Nothing you type in the form is sent until you press its button. Then the website address, name and email you entered go to Mend My Sites, which checks that website and emails you the report.
  • We receive the same details as a request, so we can follow up about your website. We don't sell them or add you to a mailing list.
  • Our analytics are told to mask the form, so what you type in it is not recorded by them.

Mend My Sites handles this information as described in its privacy policy.

Anonymous Tool Usage Counts

To rank our Popular Tools page, the website sends anonymous events when a tool is opened, used, or when a result is copied or downloaded. Each event contains only the event type and the tool's name. We store daily totals per tool; we do not store IP addresses, cookies or any identifier with these counts, and the contents you enter into a tool are never included.

Our Own Visitor Statistics

To understand which pages are useful, each page you view sends us a small report: the page address and title, the website that linked you here (for example a search engine), your screen width and browser language, and later how long the page was visible and whether you scrolled, tapped or typed (never what you typed).

  • Your IP address is used only at that moment to look up your approximate location (city, region and country) in a database on our own server. The IP address itself is not stored.
  • Your browser type, operating system and device type (phone, tablet or computer) are worked out from the browser's identification string.
  • We set no cookie for this. To count unique visitors we keep an anonymous code made from your connection details that changes every day, so it can't be used to follow you from one day to the next.
  • The statistics are seen only by the site owner, are never sold or shared, and are deleted after about 13 months.
  • Location data: IP Geolocation by DB-IP.

Favorites, Recently Used and Offline Mode

When you star a tool or open a tool, the list of your favorite and recently used tools is saved in your own browser using local storage. This information stays on your device, is not sent to our servers and can be removed at any time by clearing your browser's site data or using the "Clear history" option.

To let the site work offline and load faster, your browser may also keep copies of our pages and files in its own storage (a "service worker" cache). This stays on your device and contains only our public pages, never your data.

Cookies

Our Online Tools itself does not need cookies for its tools to work. The cookies set while you use the site come from the services below:

  • Google Analytics (analytics): _ga and _ga_* on our domain, kept for up to two years. They recognise returning visitors and group the pages viewed in one visit.
  • Microsoft Clarity (analytics): _clck and _clsk on our domain, and CLID and MUID on Microsoft's domains. They recognise returning visitors and group the pages viewed in one visit.
  • Advertising: Adsterra, which shows our ads, may set cookies inside its ad frames (see "Advertising" below).
  • Website session: the website may set a session cookie needed for security (for example to protect forms). It contains no personal information.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The tools keep working if you do.

Advertising

Ads on this website are currently provided by Adsterra. Each ad is labelled "Advertisement" and runs in a sealed frame: it cannot see the files, text or numbers you use in our tools, cannot read the rest of the page, and cannot redirect you to another site. Ads load only after you start using the page. We don't show ads on our image tools and PDF tools.

Adsterra and the advertisers it works with may receive your IP address, browser details and the address of the page the ad appears on, and may use cookies inside the ad frame to count views and clicks and to limit how often you see the same ad.

We may use third-party advertising services, including Google AdSense, to display advertisements on this website.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and similar technologies to collect information when advertisements are displayed on this website. These technologies may be used to measure advertising performance, prevent fraud and, where permitted by applicable law and user consent, provide advertisements that may be relevant to users based on their visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve advertisements based on a user's visit to this website and/or other websites on the Internet.

Users may manage or opt out of personalized advertising through Google's advertising settings: Google Ads Settings .

Users may also learn more about how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services by visiting: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services .

Depending on the advertising services and settings used on this website, other third-party advertising vendors or advertising networks may also use cookies or similar technologies. Where applicable, information about those providers and available privacy choices will be made available to users through the site's advertising and consent settings.

Third-Party Links

Our Online Tools may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content or security of websites that we do not operate.

Data Security

The website is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and we take reasonable measures to protect information associated with it. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children's Privacy

Our website is not specifically directed toward children, and we do not knowingly request personal information from children for the purpose of providing our online tools.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page along with an updated revision date.
