Compression

How it works

  1. Drop your PDF here, or click to choose it.
  2. Fit under a file size is already selected, with the limit set to 100 KB. Change it if your form asks for something different.
  3. Click Compress PDF. The tool first tries to shrink the file without changing it; if that is not enough, it saves the pages as images at the best quality that fits.
  4. Download your PDF and open it once to check the text is clear before you upload it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress a PDF to 100 KB for an online form?

Drop the PDF here: the limit is already set to 100 KB. Click Compress PDF and download the result, which is marked when it fits. Open it once before uploading to check the text is clear.

Why does the tool warn me about resolution?

To fit several scanned pages into 100 KB, each page may drop below about 70 DPI, where small print starts to blur. If that happens, upload fewer pages or check whether the form allows a larger file.

Is it 100 KB or 100 KiB?

The tool aims below 100,000 bytes, the stricter way of counting, so the file is accepted whether the website counts 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.

Is my PDF uploaded when I compress it to 100 KB?

No. Your PDF is compressed inside your browser and never sent anywhere, which matters for documents such as certificates and ID proofs.

What fits in a 100 KB PDF

100 KB is a common upload limit for documents on exam, admission and government portals, such as a mark sheet, a certificate or an ID proof. One scanned page fits comfortably, and two usually fit with the text still readable.

As a rough guide from our tests with phone photos of documents, about 1 page fit in 100 KB with normal text still readable. Clean scanner output fits more, and PDFs made from Word or Google Docs are often small enough already.
