Each image is saved at the best quality that fits, made smaller only if it has to be. PNGs are saved as JPG.
Lower = smaller files. 70–85% is usually indistinguishable.

    How it works

    1. Drop your JPG, PNG or WebP image here, or click Choose images. You can add several at once.
    2. The maximum file size is already set to 200 KB. Change it if your form asks for a different limit.
    3. Click Compress images. Each picture is saved at the best quality that fits, and made smaller in pixels only if it has to be.
    4. Download your file. Every result is marked when it is under 200 KB.

    Frequently asked questions

Can a phone photo of a certificate fit in 200 KB?

Yes. Phone photos are usually 2–5 MB, but at 200 KB a document photo keeps about 770 × 1,030 pixels, enough for the text to stay readable. Crop to the edges of the paper first for the sharpest result.

Should I choose WebP instead of JPG?

For your own website, WebP looks better at the same size. For upload forms, keep JPG: every form accepts it, while some reject WebP.

Does compressing remove the photo's location data?

Yes. The new file is created from the pixels only, so camera details and GPS location stored in the original are left out.

Is my image uploaded when I compress it to 200 KB?

No. The compression runs in your browser, so your photo never leaves your device. That also makes it quick: there is nothing to upload or download from a server.

    What fits in 200 KB

200 KB holds a sharp photo of a whole document, such as an ID card, mark sheet or certificate, and is a common limit for document uploads. For websites, it is a reasonable ceiling for a large article image.

As a rough guide, a typical photo fits in 200 KB at about 770 × 1,030 pixels while still looking clean. Pictures with plain backgrounds, such as signatures and documents, can keep more pixels; busy, detailed photos need fewer.
